Direct fit and Emissions Legal for:

• All 2004-2006 Carbureted Twin Cam 88® Engines and Sportster

• NOTE: When ordering for a Sportster, indicate your model year so the correct speedometer calibration can be pre-programmed into the unit.

• The 1009-EX version of this product is emissions legal – the difference between the two products is that this version of the product has advance curves with a slightly larger adjustment range and it not been tested for emissions compliance.

• When performing a custom 2004-2006 Twin Cam build or if your stock harness is bad – use our complete kit part number 30881 , which includes a replacement ignition wiring harness, module, coil, wires and USB.

Twin Cam engine utilize a non-adjustable crankshaft position sensor, this means that mechanical timing adjustments are no longer possible. The 1009/TC88A allows you to adjust your initial timing +-4 degree using a rotary switch. A second switch sets the advance curve slope. The combination of these two switches allows the user to optimize the timing advance for a wide range of applications – from stock to highly modified engines. You can also adjust the slope and advance curves by using our TC88 PC Link software and USB adapter pn 18014 to build your own timing advance for a wide range of applications – stock to highly modified engines. Note: USB interface 18014 plugs into the existing H-D diagnostic connector on the OEM motorcycle wiring harness.

The 1009/TC88A also features built-in data logging that stores data in an endless loop for the last 30 minutes of engine operation including RPM, vehicle speed, manifold pressure, ignition advance, and battery voltage. Engine builders will find the data logging feature highly useful for tuning, diagnosing problems, and reducing unjustified warranty claims

Like the H-D® OE module, the TC88A sends RPM data to the OE tachometer over the J1850 data bus. TC88A units also provides an optional 12 volt square wave tach signal (one pulse per revolution) that is compatible with most tachometers intended for 1999-2003 Twin Cam 88® applications. This allows you to retrofit a wide range of tachometers to newer 2004-2006 models. Please download the TC88A installation instructions for details on tach hookup. If you plan to use the optional tach hookup, you will require the USB interface and software to enable the tach output.

TC88A-IH – Special Version for 2004-2007 American IronHorse® Motorcycles 

American IronHorse® motorcycles use a non-adjustable ignition system manufactured in England by Gill. The 1009-IH/TC88A-IH is a special version of our TC88A ignition that is compatible with 2004-2007 American IronHorse® models. Installation requires the replacement of the OE 18 terminal AMP connector used with the Gill module and replacing it with a 12 terminal Deustch connector supplied with the 1009-IH/TC88A-IH kit. On 2005 and later models, some minor rewiring of the MAP sensor and engine temperature sensor ground connections is also required. Please refer to the 1009-IH/TC88A-IH Installation Instructions for details.

We recommend that you utilize our 30081-T Complete TC88-T Racing Ignition and Harness Kit – Includes: 1008-T TC88 Race Ignition Module with Two Step, 2008 Coil, 3002 Wires and 1008-HH Wiring Harness. This kit has everything that you need to wire and fire your new Twin Cam race build. This kit includes the TC88-T version of the ignition module which does not have the ability to communicate with the 2004+ modules.
